A way to live
What should I do?
What I like to do
What can I hope?
That I have the courage
What can I know?
That I do right
This is my way
Where is yours?

Let your mind and fancy
boll on.

Search for what Enjoy, Challenge and Excite yourself and learn to know yourself.
What you do you do with your whole body if it Enjoy, Challenge and Excite you.

Human nature is made up of three capacities: doing, feeling and thinking.
Feeling guides doing and thinking.

A society in which the functioning of human individuals in accordance with their own choice and practical reason will be the ultimate end of institutions and choices.
(Abbandoning) the zeal for absolute perfection as (in)approprirate to the life of a finite being. Look with mercy at the ambivalent excellence and passion of a humen life.

U inversed

Education expert Sam Intrator has observed middleclass schools for a year. Whenever he identified a moment of absorption,…, he asked the students what their thoughts and feelings were at that moment. As most of students fully understood what was taught, he would call that an ‘inspired’ moment. The inspired learning moments had the same number of activity factors: an effective combination of complete attention, enthusiastic interests and positive emotional intentions. The pleasures of learning rise at these moments.

Damasio claims that a pleasent situation, not only helps to survive our daily humdrum routine, but also ensures that we prosper, to lead a carefree life and enjoy a healthy lifestile.
Joy (Enjoy), cognitive efficiency (Excite) and excellent performances (Challenges) are on the top of the U inversed.

An U inversed gives a graphic representation of the relationship between stress and mental performances in learning or decision-making. The stress depends on the challenge; on the low side a small challenge causes boredom and show little interest. As the challenge grows, so also increases the interest, attention and motivation. If they reach an optimum level, they will achieve maximum cognitive efficiency and result. As the challenge goes beyond our capacities, stress intensifies; in extreme case nothing more remains of our performance and learning capacity.
‘Given the impact of emotions on our performances, teachers and managers have one important emotional task: to see that people arrive on the top of the U inversed and there never stray too far from it.’
Daniel Goleman.

… in adolescence not only the expectancy on getting a reward, but also the expectancy on possible reward already results in extra activity of the pleasure area. Adolescents are therefore extra sensitive for the possibility that there a reward awaits. This extra sensitivity in the brain also explains why adolescents look for challenging situations. A challenge situation you see, coincides with a possible attractive turnout.
